I am retired as an active professor, now serving as professor emeritus in the School for Environment and Sustainability. I taught in the landscape architecture program there for 34 years from 1986-2020. I also served as director of Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum roughly from 2000-2020. I taught various design courses in landscape architecture and ecological restoration and have long had special research interests in landscape history, conservation, and ecological design.
I have long loved traveling through the Rockies, having worked in Glacier National Park right out of high school and having returned there via train numerous times. Traveling through the Canadian Rockies has long been on my bucket list, and both my wife and I are anxious to try out the Canadian rail lines.
