U-M Club of Orange County: About Us

Welcome to Orange County, home of the Surfing Wolverine! The University of Michigan Alumni Club of Orange County (UMAOC) proudly represents over 3,000 U-M alums in Orange County and is your local connection to the University, its alumni, and friends whether you are local, recently moved here, or are just visiting from out of town. Throughout the year, we offer a wide diversity of cultural, educational, recreational activities, and sporting events.

As a testament of our ongoing commitment to our alumni membership, UMAOC has won numerous awards over the past 10 years, including multiple awards as outstanding club for Region 4. Additionally, Michigan Professionals received the National Award for Career Development and Networking by the University of Michigan Alumni Association, a reflection of our dedication to supporting the ongoing careers and lives of alumni, wherever you may be.

The Club encourages your participation in programs that interest you. We keep you informed through this website, emails about upcoming activities, and our Facebook or Twitter. If you are not receiving club emails, please visit the club home page to subscribe, or contact Ben Sottile at [email protected].

Our business networking group, Michigan Professionals, which meets monthly.  If interested in attending a Michigan Professionals event or for more information, please contact the Michigan Professionals Chair Ben Sottile at [email protected].

We watch our beloved Wolverines football games (and select basketball games) at Buffalo Wild Wings (23600 Rockfield Blvd, Lake Forest, CA 92630) every Saturday.  We are looking forward to watching the defending Big Ten and National Champs hit the field again this fall.  Hope to see you at one of the game watch events this year.

The UMAOC is your club. The Board of Directors is eager to develop new programs and events that serve your interests. We encourage suggestions from you, and can schedule events on short notice.

Our Board represents the wide variety of schools and disciplines of the University of Michigan. All board meetings are open to all alums and friends. Please message us on Facebook or with an email to President Ben Sottile at [email protected], for details, if you wish to join us at a meeting.
