David A. Shifman Pioneer Camper Fund

The David A. Shifman Pioneer Camper Fund, established by Burton, ’50, and Suzanne Shifman, offers financial support to a family attending Camp Michigania for the first time. The fund provides up to $3,000 toward summer programming fees* and is evaluated by the Alumni Association development team and Camp director on a per-year basis.

Requirements to apply for financial support from the David A. Shifman Pioneer Camper Fund:

• You are available to attend Camp Michigania’s summer programming in 2025.
• Your family has never attended Camp Michigania in the past.
• You have not received financial support from this fund before.
• You completed an application for Summer Camp during the lottery period (Jan. 15-27, 2025).
• You submitted this application and statement demonstrating financial need by Jan. 27, 2025.
• You are not an Alumni Association of the University of Michigan staff member.

Applicants will be reviewed blindly by a council of reviewers, removing any identifiers for a fair judgment process. Applicants will be notified of their selection status no later than Jan. 31, 2025. If you are not selected, your application will be canceled and the deposit fully refunded, unless you contact us wishing to still remain in the lottery by Feb. 3.

If you do not meet the requirements above, Camp Michigania does not offer any other financial aid options. We do, however, offer payment arrangements, which must be made as soon as you receive a reservation confirmation. *The financial support goes directly toward camper fees and cannot be used to cover any additional costs.
