Join us at Camp Michigania as we celebrate Black History Month with a special weekend getaway. This community-building weekend will include educational opportunities as well as recreation and relaxation.
Just south of Petoskey, along beautiful Walloon Lake, sits Camp Michigania, the home away from home for Michigan alums and their families.
This community-building weekend will include educational opportunities, recreation, and relaxation. You’ll have the chance to hear from University of Michigan faculty, take in the beauty of northern Michigan in winter, and participate in activities like snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, rock polishing, and more.

Due to a low number of registrations, the 2024 getaway has been canceled.
• First person: $575
• Each additional camper: $475
*This is an inclusive getaway open to all alumni. Every adult over the age of 18 who is not currently enrolled in a college or university must be a current member of the Alumni Association prior to attending. Fee includes all meals, from dinner on Thursday evening to a pre-departure brunch on Sunday.

You must be a member of the Alumni Association to submit an application. Due to high demand, a lottery may be utilized for applications received by Jan. 10. All applicants will be notified of the results by Jan. 15. For applications received after Jan. 10, confirmations will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications received within 10 days of the start of the program will be waitlisted, and you will be contacted if we can make accommodations.
If you are not able to attend, you must submit your cancellation by email. If you cancel your application 14 or more days before the start of the event, you will receive a full refund, less a $50 processing fee. If you cancel less than 14 days out, your fees will be forfeited.
Roundtrip Transportation to Michigania
Optional transportation from Ann Arbor to Camp Michigania and back is available for $150. You will have the option to select this add-on when filling out the application.
Getaway Activities
Boyne Mountain
For the outdoor enthusiasts we will offer a shuttle on Friday and Saturday to Boyne Mountain.
Campfires
Campfire locations include lakeside or in a clearing in the woods. You bring the conversation, and we’ll provide the s’mores!
Ceramics/Arts/Crafts
Create stunning artwork, thoughtful gifts, and mementos of your time at Michigania.
Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skis are available to check out for exploring the campgrounds and wooded trails with both guided and “on your own” cross-country ski excursions.
Faculty Forum Speaker
Hear from a University of Michigan faculty or staff member as they provide insight into an area of expertise.
Family Games & Tournaments
The Activity Room in the Education Center offers a home for family game nights and board-game/card tournaments any time of the week. Games and cards may also be checked out for use in your cabin.
Guided Hikes
Explore Michigania with a staff member on several guided hikes that will take you to different beautiful camp locales.
Rock Polishing
Find a Petoskey Stone around camp or bring a rock with you and take it to our nature center to enhance its beauty.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoes are available to check out for guided hikes off the beaten path or for exploring on your own.
