The tour of the Crocker Art Museum will include some of the gallery’s more meaningful acquisitions in a collection that is ever changing. One visit to the Crocker is never enough. The docent leading the tour, Carol Mills, is the daughter of a Michigan alum and is experiences and especially strong story teller that brings exhibits to life. The docent leading the tour is known to the club president and her father is a Michigan Alum. The club has arranged a discounted admission fee of $10 (normally $15). Carol Mills will meet all of you as you enter, so we can all pay as a group. The event may run longer than an hour. There is paid parking is available across the street. Former Michigan football player and TEDx speaker Marc Ramirez tackled type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and lost weight with a plant-based lifestyle—no more insulin shots or metformin! He and his wife, Kim, were so thrilled with his results they founded the nonprofit Chickpea and Bean to teach others about the power of food. Join us to hear the whole story, straight from these inspiring Wolverines who are featured in the upcoming documentary “Reversing Diabetes” from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Join us for this exciting inside look into Michigan Football. Author of Bo’s Warriors, Dr. Frank Lieberman, will take us through the journey of how in the turbulent 60’s, an elite group of racially and economically diverse, bright athletically driven, young men came together. Initially they immensely despised their “authoritarian’ coach because of his cruel and sadistic conditioning and grueling practice regimes. In the second half of their 6th game with Minnesota, they united and began their emotional transformation and gratified their ego need for deference by loving, respecting, supporting and admiring coach. They became and exhibited one productive, dominating and achieving force being victorious -winning 25 of their next 26 season games. This is their legacy, their story and how they did not allow egocentrism, envy, selfishness, jealousy or pride to interfere.
Thom Darden, who was one of Bo’s prized pupils, will also be speaking. He earned All-American honors, playing on two Big Ten championship teams, and going on to a Pro Bowl career with the Cleveland Browns. Together, Lieberman and Darden will share inside stories about the mental toughness Bo demanded.
