About Jack Harbaugh

  • Jack is the father of the first pair of brothers to serve as NFL coaches and the only brothers to face off as head coaches in a Super Bowl. He is in a prime position to share insights about what makes our current head football coach the unique and successful person he has become.
  • With a football coaching career spanning more than four decades, Jack has many tales to tell, including stories from his seven seasons as U-M’s defensive backfield coach under Bo Schembechler.
  • Jack’s “no holds barred” personality makes him an entertaining and highly sought-after speaker. We are sure to enjoy his stories about raising kids who are driven, competitive and wildly successful.
  • Jack taught his children to “attack this day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.” Perhaps you’ll leave with the same attitude!

All proceeds went to scholarships for incoming U-M freshmen who live in our local area (western Wayne and Oakland counties).

Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 6:30 pm

Laurel Manor Banquet Center, 39000 Schoolcraft Rd., Livonia, MI 48150

We combined our annual meeting and our annual scholarship fundraising dinner into one great event.

Our featured guest speaker Justice Richard Bernstein became the first elected blind justice to the Michigan Supreme Court in November 2014. Prior to being elected to Michigan’s highest court, Justice Bernstein was known as a tireless advocate for disabled rights heading the public service division for The Sam Bernstein Law Firm. Blind since birth, Justice Bernstein is a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned his JD from Northwestern University School of Law. In his spare time, Justice Bernstein is an avid runner, completing 18 marathons including eight New York City marathons, a full Ironman triathlon, and a half Ironman.

Justice Bernstein talked about his life experiences in overcoming obstacles and breaking down stereotypes, and how his experience at the University of Michigan has helped him. In addition, the evening featured a wonderful dinner and a silent auction with many unique items.

Attendees had a terrific opportunity to:

  • Connect with other alumni and club leaders
  • Learn more about the club and how you can get involved
  • Support our scholarship program benefiting local students
  • Enjoy a delicious dinner
  • Get great deals on valuable items at our silent auction

Thank you to the following businesses that donated items for our silent auction – all proceeds will benefit UM students

Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner with Former U-M President Mary Sue Coleman  mary_sue_for_web.jpg

Read coverage of this event in the Northville Record.

Thank you to all who sponsored our fundraiser dinner with featured guest speaker former U-M President Dr. Mary Sue Coleman. The dinner also celebrated an exciting milestone event — the 25th anniversary of the U-M Club of Greater Northville. A silent auction raised $2000 for a scholarship fund benefiting local U-M students.

Thank you to all the businesses that donated items for our silent auction, including: Bahama Breeze (Livonia), Dancing Eye Gallery, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Zoo, Genetti’s Hole-in-the-Wall, Good Time Party Store, Hungry Howie’s Pizza (Brighton), Hyatt of Novi, La Casa (Plymouth), La Vida (Plymouth), Northville Sports Den, Novastar Solutions, Obstbaum Orchards Winery & Cider Mill, Penn Theater (Plymouth), Red Olive Restaurant (Plymouth), Sean O’Callaghan’s (Plymouth), Sparr’s Flowers & Greenhouse (Plymouth), The Henry Ford, Tipping Point Theater, Toledo Zoo,

During her 12 years as the university’s 13th president, and the first female in that role, Dr. Mary Sue Coleman left her mark on campus from facilities, to fundraising, to research. Time magazine named her one of the nation’s top 10 university presidents. But perhaps the Michigan community will best remember Dr. Coleman for her personal touch, and the impact she had on the lives of so many students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
