U-M Club of Charlotte: Get Involved

Beyond attending the many great Events and Game Watch Parties we sponsor throughout the year, there are many other ways to become more actively involved with the U-M Alumni Club of Charlotte.

Volunteer for the Board or a Committee

We always welcome members who want to become involved with our Board of Directors or a Committee (Young Alumni, Communications, Scholarship & Student Relations and Programming).  If you are interested in serving in one of these roles, or a particular project, please email the club at [email protected] .

Participate in Club Community Service Activities

Each year around Spring Commencement we participate in AAUM’s nationwide community service day.  In addition, we typically organize at least one other community service activity in the fall when there is a bye in the football schedule.  Over the last ten years our spring Community Service Day has served several great organizations, including Beds For Kids, Second Harvest Food Bank, Promising Pages, and Habitat For Humanity.

These are great opportunities for local U-M alumni to come together and give back to the Charlotte community, while making new friends and having a great time in the process.

Admitted Students Reception

In the spring while students are still evaluating their college choices, a reception is held by the Club for local students who have been admitted to the University of Michigan, even if they have not yet made the decision to enroll.  Students and their parents are invited to attend the reception, as are recent graduates and parents of current students or recent graduates. Students and parents get a chance to learn more about the Michigan experience in a relaxed atmosphere.  We encourage alumni participation to help with event planning, greeting students and their families, and speaking informally about the University and Ann Arbor ahead of the enrollment deadline.

Student Sendoff

Each summer the club sponsors a student sendoff where we invite new and returning students headed for Ann Arbor.  The event is held in mid-August at our game watch location, Tremont.  This event gives students and their families a chance to make connections with other local students and local Charlotte alumni.
