Volunteer for the Board or a Committee
We always welcome members to become involved with our Board of Directors or a Committee (Young Alumni, Communications, Scholarship & Student Relations and Programming). If you are interested in serving in one of these roles, please email the club at firstname.lastname@example.org or our Club President, Josh Bostwick at email@example.com.
Participate in Club Community Service Activities
Each year on the day of Spring Commencement we participate in AAUM’s nationwide community service day. In addition, we typically organize at least one other community service activity annually. The last two years our spring Community Service Day was spent volunteering at Beds For Kids.
These are great opportunities for local U-M alumni to come together and give back to the Charlotte community while making new friends and having a great time in the process.
Admitted Students Reception
In the spring while students are still evaluating their college choices, a reception for admitted students is held by the club for local students who have been admitted to the University of Michigan, but who may still be on the fence about enrolling. Students and their parents are invited to attend the reception, as are recent graduates and parents of current students or recent graduates. Students and parents get a chance to learn more about the Michigan experience in a relaxed atmosphere. We encourage alumni participation to help with event planning, greeting students and their families and speaking informally about the University and Ann Arbor to help answer questions prior to the May 1 enrollment deadline.
Summer Picnic and Fall-Kick-Off
Each summer the club sponsors both a summer picnic and a Fall-Kick off where we invite new freshmen headed for Ann Arbor and their families. The summer picnic is usually a BBQ held at local alum’s home and the Fall Kick-off coincides with the club’s Annual meeting in mid-August and is held at our game watch location, Tavern on the Tracks. These events give new students and their families a chance to make connections with other local students headed for Michigan, local Charlotte alumni and it gives them another opportunity to find out more about the Michigan experience from those with recent experiences of their own.
