Sally Churchill

Vice President and Secretary of the University of Michigan

Fun fact

My grandmother graduated from UM in 1914 (BA) and my father in 1947 (BBA) and 1950 (JD). I graduated in 1977 (BGS) and 1987 (JD) and my son graduated in 2018.(BBA) So he is a 4th generation Wolverine. And I got to sign his diploma!

U-M Role

The University of Michigan is a constitutional corporation under the State Constitution and I am an corporate officer. I work for the president but am also responsible to the Board of Regents. I provide strategic advice to the regents, the president and the other executive officers; plan board agenda and meetings; and coordinate regent engagement with the campus among other things. I chair the Residency Appeals Committee, serve ex officio on the Advisory Board of Intercollegiate Athletics, and serve on the Honorary Degree Committee, among other things. I taught Environmental Law through the School of Environment and Sustainability for seventeen years.

Trip Experience

I am of Scottish descent, of the Muir Clan, and hosted a similar trip in 2014 for the Alumni Association. I am mildly obsessed with all things Scottish, including of course Outlander, knitting, Scotch whisky, and such like (as they say in Scotland). I am excited to return to this incredibly beautiful country.
