I am a professor of global nursing in the Department of Health Behavior and Clinical Sciences. I am internationally recognized for my work to improve maternal and newborn health in resource-limited settings. I have led externally funded research in Liberia, Zambia, and Ghana, including a randomized trial on group antenatal care. With two decades of experience in sub-Saharan Africa, I have also advanced global health education at U-M by developing courses, supporting a nursing global health minor, and founding the U-M School of Nursing Summer Institute. I mentor faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, and international scholars, and hold a PhD in nursing from the University of Arizona and an MS in midwifery from the University of Michigan.
I am excited for the opportunity to experience an area of Africa I am much less familiar with.
