Check out the Welcome to Michigan schedule of events to see everything the University has to offer during your first weeks back on campus. Get a glimpse of more than 1,600 student organizations at Festifall, or have private access to the largest stadium in the world at the Athletics Pep Rally. The following U-M staff members shared highlights of some upcoming events.

Festifall

Tuesday, Aug. 31
5-8 p.m.
North Campus

Wednesday, Sept. 1
Thursday, Sept. 2
5-8 p.m.
Central Campus

“I attended or worked Festifall during all four years as a student at the University of Michigan, and all I can say is that it brings the reality of being a Michigan student alive—walking from table to table on the Diag and signing my name down for student organizations that I could never have dreamed of being a part of before. Seeing the enthusiasm on my classmates’ faces was the best part.”
—Christopher Thompson, ’19, MA’21, graduate advising intern, Michigan Engineering, and graduate resident adviser, Residence Education

Athletics Pep Rally
Thursday, Sept. 2
7 p.m.
Michigan Stadium

“We can’t wait to host our first-ever student kickoff rally at the Big House and welcome students back to athletics, including two classes who have yet to experience the magic of Michigan Stadium. At the event, students will hear from members of the football team, practice game day traditions with the band and the cheer and dance teams, and have the chance to win prizes along the way. We hope they have a blast and are ready to kick off the season against Western Michigan.”
—Jaclyn Crumey, associate director of event presentation and fan experience, Michigan Athletics

Rec Sports Expo
Friday, Sept. 3
3-6 p.m.
Palmer Field

“In contrast to last year’s online-only schedule, our Rec Sports Wellness Week will give us the opportunity to meet first-year, second-year, and transfer students in person. I hope that students who attend our events will find ways to get involved; connect with other students; and, more importantly, find how Rec Sports can be part of their well-being journey.”
—Lisa Shea, associate director of programs, programs & marketing, Recreational Sports

Pride Outside
Sunday, Sept 5
2-4 p.m.
Palmer Field

“I’m very excited for Pride Outside to come back as an in-person event this year. Pride Outside offers LGBTQ+ students and allies an opportunity to build community, learn about affirming resources and services, and enjoy getting to know some of the best student organizations on campus.”
—Mark Chung Kwan Fan, director of student life, Stamps School of Art & Design

Flourish Series
Wednesdays in September, starting Sept. 8
5:30-7 p.m.
In person and virtual (sign up through Sessions)

“Join Trotter Multicultural Center, the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies, and the LEAD Scholars program during the month of September to explore the many dimensions of wellness through the lens of personal and social identities.”
—Priscila Papias, program manager, Trotter Multicultural Center

UMix Late Night
Friday, Sept. 10
Friday, Sept. 24
8 p.m.-midnight
Central Campus Diag

“UMix events are social events where you can make new friends, have fun with unique activities like inflatables or go carts, and enjoy free food. Activities are different week to week, but there’s always something for everyone.”
—Natalie Kittikul, ’11, student programs coordinator, Alumni Association
