A recent poll conducted by Jeffrey Kullgren, M.D., M.P.H., M.S. and Denise Anthony, Ph.D., M.A, of the University of Michigan National Poll on Healthy Aging revealed that a significantly higher number of older adults now use secure websites or apps to access their health information or have virtual healthcare appointments compared to five years ago. Interestingly, even among older adults who use online portals, a substantial number still prefer phone calls for certain tasks like scheduling appointments or seeking medical advice. Portal users, in general, favor portals over phone calls when it comes to tasks such as accessing test results or requesting prescription refills.
