In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s rejection of the Biden Administration’s previous, ambitious plan, which would have eliminated between $10,000 and $20,000 per student, the administration is preparing a new set of student loan debt-relief measures. Brian Jacob, a faculty member at the U-M Ford School, explores the effectiveness of the student debt reduction plans already in place, including the Teacher Loan Forgiveness (TLF) program. Jacob explains a recent study he conducted and its implications for the larger debt relief conversation.
