The U-M Alumni Club of Silicon Valley would like to congratulate you on being a vital part of the U-M family. We know that many outside obstacles can distract you from the necessary concentration to succeed at the University of Michigan. For that reason, we would like to offer an opportunity for returning undergraduate students registering for full-time classes at U-M in the upcoming fall semester from the Silicon Valley region to apply for an Alumni Scholarship.
As of August 17, 2022, we have awarded three scholarships for 2022-2023. Please revisit this page in early spring (April/May) 2023 this page when we have information on the scholarships we anticipate awarding in summer 2023.
These scholarships are intended to provide awards to students from the Silicon Valley region of California whom we feel embrace the Michigan spirit and will remain active and affiliated with the University for many years beyond graduation. We are targeting students who have achieved success demonstrated by accomplishments, credentials, and academics. The scholarships are available for any undergraduate student entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in the fall semester, who has a permanent address within the Silicon Valley Region. Only students receiving the application invitation email, which is based on U-M student records, are eligible to apply. This scholarship does not automatically renew, and prior winners are not eligible for a second award. The U-M Alumni Club of Silicon Valley Scholarship Committee is solely responsible for determining the eligibility of and awarding the scholarship to the recipients of this award.
How to Apply for a Scholarship
Please be prepared to upload the following documents, in PDF format, into the application form:
- A copy of your current U-M transcript. Unofficial copies are accepted.
- A separate sheet listing your extracurricular activities.
Applications are due early summer. No exceptions.
Winners will be announced in mid summer.
A submission confirmation including your form contents will be emailed to you by the Google Form.
How to make TAX DEDUCTIBLE Scholarship Fund Donations
Hello Michigan alums! Your generous support of the U-M Alumni Club of Silicon Valley Scholarship Fund has enabled us to help out many local students attending Michigan. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the club scholarship fund to help additional local students attend U-M. The University also accepts stock donations for scholarship funds.
To declare this gift as a tax deduction for this year, it must be postmarked by Dec. 31. If your company has a Matching Gift Program, please obtain the necessary form from the personnel office and enclose it with your contribution. Checks should be made payable to the University of Michigan, and have a notation designating the U-M Club of Silicon Valley Scholarship Fund or give online.
