Samantha Malcolm

My name is Samantha Malcolm and I am currently enrolled in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan as a first-year student. I am interested in pursuing an education centered at the intersection of sociology, public policy, economics, and law. I plan to use my studies at Michigan to enable my career goal of devising innovative, ethical, and enforceable policies that empower marginalized communities and are structured in a way that yield meaningful and equitable outcomes. I intend to apply to the Ford School during my second year to obtain a BA in public policy. While at Michigan, I am excited to take on challenging and thought-provoking classes, engage in undergraduate research, develop close relationships with faculty and peers, join student organizations, cheer on the football team at the Big House, and explore the great city and food of Ann Arbor! Thank you for helping provide me with the opportunity to attend my dream school! Go Blue!

Lucas Podolsky

My name is Lucas Podolsky and I am currently enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at Michigan. I am most interested in economics, as well as computer science. I hope to focus on a mixture of the two fields throughout my time in school. While at Michigan, I hope to participate in a variety of different clubs and organizations related to my major, personal background and interests. I am looking to participate in intramural sports, along with trying out for the club golf and tennis teams. Moreover, I will be active in Hillel and look to join the Michigan Economics Society. As the world begins to get back to normal, I cannot wait to experience it at Michigan. Thank you to all who have helped me get this opportunity to be a Wolverine. Go Blue!

Maram Faqqouseh

My name is Maram Faqqouseh and I am enrolled in the Honors Program at the College of Literature, Sciences, and the Arts. I am most interested in exploring biology and psychology here at the University of Michigan, and I am considering a pre-medical track as well. I’m excited to be involved in clubs that will connect me to my ethnic background, such as the Arab Student Association, and clubs with goals that I am passionate about, such as Call For Humanity, which aims to combat the stigma associated with mental health issues. Additionally, I am grateful for already being involved in research through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. Even though I haven’t been able to have a normal college experience due to the pandemic, I have still loved every second I’ve spent so far at the University of Michigan, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my undergraduate years here!

Lindsay Farb

My name is Lindsay Farb and I am currently enrolled in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design. I plan to explore many styles of art and hope to focus in graphic design. I am also very interested in architecture and psychology and hope to incorporate these topics within my academic studies of the next four years. During my time here at University of Michigan, I plan to become involved in various clubs across campus surrounding service outreach, dance and performing arts, design, and political activism. Having only been here a few weeks, I am still naïve as for what’s to come, but I could not be more excited to continue meeting passionate people, learning from incredible professors, and exploring the beautiful area of Ann Arbor! Thank you again for all the opportunities you have provided for me and many others in my position!

Thank you! Go Blue!!

 Julia Woodson

My name is Julia Woodson and I’m currently enrolled in the College of Literature, Arts, and Science. I plan to major in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. Neuroscience has always fascinated me, and the amount of opportunities for research at U-M are very exciting! I chose the University of Michigan for this reason. I felt that no matter what field you want to pursue, there are endless possibilities to explore it. At first I was intimidated by the sheer size of the student body coming from a private school, but this community has proven to both inclusive and diverse. I plan on being a part of Backpacking Club, Dance Marathon, Michigan Aquaponics, and the Michigan Blood Battle. I can’t wait for what lies ahead of me in my freshman year here! In my first few weeks, I have already fallen in love with this school. I’m excited to dive into all of the opportunities presented to me, and have found my classes to be both engaging and challenging at the same time. Although I know that there will be many challenges this year (many weather related I’m sure, thank you Florida), but with all that I’m looking to be involved with, I know I can endure them.

Thank you and Go Blue!

Jessica Schafer

My name is Jessica Schafer and I am a student-athlete in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. I chose this University not only because of its academics, but also because whenever I visited the school as a child, Ann Arbor always felt like home. The community that surrounds me every day feels like family. For example, I am a part of the Varsity Soccer team on campus. I have only known the girls for a few months, but I know I could ask them for help about anything. The college of engineering is no different. I feel like there is constant help, so whenever I have a question, I can easily have it answered. My path towards an engineering degree will not be easy, but all the available help will surely make the journey easier. I may not have been at the school for very long, but I know I have made the right choice in where I want to spend the next 4 years of my life.

Thank you!  Go Blue!

Natasha Nielsen

I graduated from Pine View School in Osprey, FL. and plan on pursuing the Business major at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (while also pursuing the pre-law track). I want to work in the social aspect of Business Law by being an advocate for labor rights, gender discrimination, and even deaf people. I worked with children with special needs in high school, including deaf and hard-of-hearing kids. I am enrolled in the American Sign Language course sequence at U-M and plan on becoming fluent in order to be a deaf advocate. I was very involved in community service in high school and have already joined a multitude of clubs here. I am a part of She’s the First, Lean In, We Will Work For Food, Freshman Business Club, Central Student Government, CMA EDU, ASL Club, and University Unions Student Marketing Advisory Committee. I am also a part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and am looking at projects in the Social Sciences. I chose Michigan because I knew I would have the opportunity to do all of these amazing things, as well as make friends like me and enjoy a Game Day unlike any other college.

Go Blue!

Thank you,

Natasha Nielsen

Jordan Bruder

I plan on applying to Ross School of Business in the spring and to earn a BBA degree from there. I am not sure what kind of business I want to go into but I am very interested in sports management. I am going to play Club Lacrosse at Michigan and also plan on joining a sorority this fall. I have lived in Florida my entire life and chose the University of Michigan because I like how it is very different from Florida so I will be able to experience new things. I also chose Michigan because of how good the business school is. I go to a small private school so it will be very nice to finally have a larger community and I will love going to all of the sporting events.

Thank you,

Jordan Bruder
