U-M Club of Grand Rapids: Scholarship Information

The U-M Club of Grand Rapids Scholarship Program

Year after year, the U-M Club of Grand Rapids stands out as a Leader and Best in providing financial aid to area high school students who plan to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  The local club administers the largest scholarship program of its kind in the nation, surpassing even larger metro areas.  We are continually working to raise funds and grant awards to exceptional students from the greater Grand Rapids metropolitan area.

For the current academic year, the Grand Rapids Club is supporting 69 students from 33 different area high schools, with awards totaling $310,000.  The students we support are pursuing undergraduate degrees in many diverse programs, including engineering, computer science, music, kinesiology, nursing and business.  With the depth of young, motivated talent in West Michigan, it is our desire and intent to continue to expand this program to have a continuing and significant impact on the lives of students from our area.

For the 2023-24 academic year, the U-M Club of Grand Rapids was able to award annual scholarships of $4,500 to 19 freshman students, as well as increasing the awards to continuing students to the same amount for the balance of their undergraduate educational programs.

The U-M Club of Grand Rapids welcomes contributions to the scholarship program in any amount.  Every dollar that we raise helps to make a University of Michigan education available to deserving students from our area.  Please consider supporting this outstanding educational program in your estate planning and annual charitable giving.  Thank you to all who have already helped our program to assist the many students who have benefited over the years.

Applications

The scholarship application for high school students graduating in the 2023-2024 school year is available now.  The information will also be sent to all high schools within our Club’s footprint.  You can also download the application here.

Based on guidelines from the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, our scholarship “footprint” has been reduced. Students from high schools along the lakeshore are no longer eligible for our scholarship program, and applications will not be reviewed.

If you know any high school students graduating during the 2023-2024 school year, and you need more information, please contact our Scholarship Committee Chair, Michael Rosloniec, at [email protected].
