Winter in northern Michigan is an invitation to pack your bags and head for an unforgettable getaway, and Michigania is conveniently located near some of Michigan’s best ski hills. Boyne Mountain, The Highlands at Harbor Springs, and Nub’s Nob are all within a 30-minute drive!
Whether you’re planning to hit the slopes nearby or desire a scenic backdrop for working from home, we’ve got you covered.
Cabin Rental Information
A minimum 2-night stay is required. Prices do not include a $75 cleaning fee or 6% State of Michigan lodging tax. A $300 security deposit is required on all reservations. Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cabin rentals are not designed to replicate the Michigania summer experience, which means most amenities are not available for use. Please be sure to read the Cabin Information and Property Rules sections below for more information. The following amenities are available:

Winter Up North
Still unsure about coming up north in the winter? Here are some of the exciting things to do in the area to supplement your stay:
Specific Dates
- Jan. 26 and Feb. 10: Take part in a night hike at The Highlands, which includes hot cocoa, kettle corn, and a sleigh ride down the mountain afterward
- Jan. 28: See the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club on their winter tour in Charlevoix
- Feb. 2: Walk the Cocktail Trail at Downtown Charlevoix’s First Fridays event
- Feb. 10: Take part in Frostbite Trail: A Winter Cask, Flask, & Fork Experience at Charlevoix and Antrim County wineries, breweries, and distilleries
General Activities
- Visit The Highlands to explore The Enchanted Trail (weekends), enjoy a moonlight dinner atop North Peak (Saturdays), and take part in winter horseback rides (Sundays)
- Check out the SkyBridge (daily, 3-9 p.m.) or relax at The Spa at Boyne Mountain
- Splash away at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark

Rental Information
2 days or more before arrival: You may cancel your reservation for no charge before 11:59 p.m. ET two days before arrival.
Within 2 days of arrival: There will be no refund issued.

Cleaning fees will not be charged for any reservation canceled prior to check-in and will automatically be refunded.

- All units have a private bathroom and shower.
- Guests will need to provide all toiletries.
- Guests will need to bring their own sheets, linens, blankets, towels, etc.
- 1-bedroom units have a queen bed.
- 2-bedroom units have a queen bed and 2 sets of twin bunk beds.
- Cabins do not contain a kitchen. However, a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot (with filters) are provided in the common room of each cabin.
- Cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, etc. are not provided in the cabin. You are encouraged to bring your own, if needed.
- Individual unit rentals may share the common room, appliances, and porch with other renters in the same cabin.

Check-out time: 11 a.m. ET
Please read these rules carefully. Failure to abide by these rules may result in loss of security deposit, being asked to leave Michigania without refund, or loss of access to Michigania in the future.
- While we all love our furry friends, no pets are allowed on Michigania property.
- No parties are allowed on Michigania property.
- Please be respectful of your neighbors and keep your noise levels down between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Cars must be parked in the South Camp parking lot. Cars may not be parked next to cabins, except for when unpacking upon arrival and packing for departure.
- Make sure all food products are secured and trash is properly disposed of to deter wildlife. Trash and recycling bins are located inside your cabin.
- Fire pits and fire-making supplies are available at South Beach. Please be sure fires are fully put out when finished and all materials are returned to where you found them.
- Motorized vehicles, such as snowmobiles, may not be used on Michigania property.
- No personal firearms and no hunting are allowed during your stay.

Camp Michigania is the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan’s family camp that has operated on beautiful Walloon Lake in Boyne City, Michigan, since the 1960s.
Please allow at least 2 business days for our staff to review and approve your cabin rental application. Please note: Cabin rentals will not be confirmed until the liability waiver has been completed. Please look out for an email from [email protected] with confirmation details.
Security deposits will be fully refunded within 7 days of departure as long as your unit is not damaged and keys have been returned. You will be notified if any of the security deposit is being held.
No, only those staying overnight at Michigania are allowed on the property.
Toilet paper, paper towels, all cleaning supplies, and hand sanitizer are provided.
Cabins do not contain a kitchen. However, a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot are provided in the common room of each cabin.
University of Michigan Wi-Fi networks are available in all cabins and program areas around Michigania.
There are two networks available:
- MWireless, for anyone who has an active U-M login.
- MGuest, the network most guests will utilize.
Yes, you will need to supply your own bed linens, pillows, and towels.

Yes, each cabin is heated.
Assignments are based on your reservation and availability. Rental requests will be processed in the order in which they are received.
Unfortunately, there are none that we are aware of. However, it never hurts to ask if you are contacting a local restaurant.
There are numerous food options within driving distance, with the closest cities to Michigania being Boyne City and Petoskey.
