Ready for an up-north getaway? Experience an enchanting getaway to northern Michigan by renting a cabin at Camp Michigania. Cabin rentals are open to everyone. You do not have to be affiliated with the University of Michigan to rent a cabin.
Our camp team has worked with Michigan Medicine health experts to develop procedures that allow us to make cabin rentals available to all alumni. Our safety and cleaning procedures mean that you can enjoy northern Michigan with your friends and family with peace of mind.
Cabin Rental Information
Cabin rentals are currently available for the following dates: Jan. 19–23, Jan. 27–30, Feb. 2–6, and Feb. 9–13.
Note: A minimum 2-night stay is required. Prices do not include a $75 cleaning fee or 6% State of Michigan lodging tax. A $300 security deposit will be required on all reservations. Requests will be processed first-come, first-served.

Available Amenities
Cabin rentals are not designed to replicate the Camp Michigania summer experience which means that most Camp amenities will not be available for use. Please be sure to read the Property Rules and Cabin Information sections for more information. The following options will be available:
- Refrigerator, coffee pot, and microwave in each cabin
- Hiking trails
- Tennis courts
- Daily access to Education Center
- WiFi in cabins












Rental Information
24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation: For bookings made at least 14 calendar days prior to arrival, you may cancel your reservation and receive a full refund. The cancellation request must be made by midnight of the day after payment is made.
14 days or more prior to arrival: Full refund less a $50 processing fee.
Within 14 days of arrival: There will be no refund issued.
If you test positive for COVID-19 prior to your arrive, please contact our office at 231.582.9191 or [email protected], and we will process a full refund.
Cleaning fees will not be charged for any reservation canceled prior to check-in and will automatically be refunded.

- All units have a private bathroom and shower.
- Guests will need to provide all toiletries.
- Guests will need to bring their own sheets, linens, blankets, towels, etc.
- 1-Bedroom units have a Queen bed.
- 2-Bedroom units have a Queen bed and 2 sets of Twin bunk beds.
- Cabins do not contain a kitchen. However, a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot (with filters) will be provided in the common room of each cabin.
- Cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, etc. are not provided in the cabin. You are encouraged to bring your own if needed.
- Individual unit rentals may share the common room, appliances, and porch with other renters in the same cabin.

Check-out Time: 11 a.m.
Please read these rules carefully. Failure to abide by these rules may result in loss of security deposit, being asked to leave Camp without refund, or loss of access to Camp Michigania in the future.
- Visitors must abide by all current State of Michigan COVID-19 safety regulations, including gathering sizes, masks, and physical distancing.
- While we all love our furry friends, no pets are allowed on Camp Michigania property.
- No parties are allowed on property.
- Please be respectful of your neighbors and keep your noise levels down between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Cars must be parked in the South Camp parking lot. Cars may not be parked next to cabins, except for when unpacking upon arrival and packing for departure.
- Make sure all food products are secured and trash is properly disposed of to deter wildlife. Trash and recycling bins will be located inside your cabin.
- Fire pits and fire-making supplies are available at South Beach.
- Please be sure fires are fully put out when finished, and all materials are returned to where you found them.
- Motorized vehicles, such as snowmobiles, may not be used on Camp Michigania property.
- No personal firearms and no hunting are allowed during your stay.
Your safety is our top priority. For the health and safety of our guests, we have instituted stringent safety and cleaning protocols based on the latest CDC guidance.
- There will be a minimum 1 day between each cabin rental to allow for cleaning.
- All cabin common areas will be cleaned, disinfected (with the use of a fogger), and sanitized between guests.
- All cabins will be stocked with cleaning/sanitizing supplies along with paper towel and toilet paper.
Camp Michigania is located at 3006 Camp Sherwood Road, Boyne City, MI 49712. For the most efficient route possible, please see Google Maps or Waze.
From Southeast Michigan
Follow I-75 north to Gaylord (exit 282). Take M-32 west from Gaylord to US-131. Turn right onto US-131 and follow it to Boyne Falls. Turn left onto M-75 and follow it to Boyne City. When you reach Boyne City, go through town to the second stoplight. Lake Charlevoix will be straight ahead. Turn right onto Lake Street and follow it around Lake Charlevoix. Lake Street curves left and becomes W. Michigan Street as you continue around the lake. As you leave town, W. Michigan Street curves to the right and becomes Boyne City/Charlevoix Road.
Follow Boyne City/Charlevoix Road to Sumner Road for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Sumner Road and follow it for approximately ½ mile to the flashing light. Turn left onto Camp Daggett Road and follow it approximately 1 mile to Camp Sherwood Road. Camp Sherwood Road is the first road on the right, just past the crest of a very high hill.
Turn right onto Camp Sherwood Road and follow it approximately 1 mile. You will see the Michigania entrance on the right. Follow the dirt road and soon you will see the breathtaking sight of Walloon Lake on the horizon. Proceed to the Education Center to pick-up your keys.
From US-31 North
Follow US-31 north through Charlevoix (toward Petoskey) to Camp Daggett Road and turn right. Follow Camp Daggett Road approximately 4.5 miles to Camp Sherwood Road, turn left, and follow Camp Sherwood Road for 1 mile. The Michigania entrance will be on your right. Follow the dirt road and soon you will see the breathtaking sight of Walloon Lake on the horizon. Proceed to the Education Center to pick-up your keys.
From Northern Michigan
Follow US-31 south out of Petoskey 4.5 miles (toward Charlevoix). Turn left onto Camp Daggett Road. Follow it approximately 4.5 miles to Camp Sherwood Road, turn left, and follow Camp Sherwood Road for 1 mile. The Michigania entrance will be on your right. Frequently Asked Questions
Camp Michigania is the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan’s family camp that has operated in Boyne City, Michigan on beautiful Walloon Lake for over 55 years. While COVID-19 may have cancelled the traditional camp experience this summer, the team has worked with Michigan Medicine health experts to open up cabin rentals to all alumni. With 19 cabins, alumni can choose their location and cabin type while availability lasts.
Please allow at least 2 business days for our camp staff to review and approve your cabin rental application. Please note, cabin rentals will not be confirmed until the Liability Waiver has been completed. Please look out for an email from [email protected] with confirmation details.
Security deposits will be full refunded within 7 days of departure, as long as your unit is not damaged, and keys have been returned. You will be notified if any of the security deposit is being held.

No, only those staying overnight at camp will be allowed on the property.
Toilet paper, paper towels, all cleaning supplies, and hand sanitizer are provided.
Cabins do not contain a kitchen. However, a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot will be provided in the common room of each cabin.
There is limited Wi-Fi access available on the front and back deck of the Education Center using the “Guest” network. There is no password required.
Yes, you will need to supply your own bed linens, pillows, and towels.

Yes, each cabin is heated.
Assignments are based on your reservation and availability. Rental requests will be processed in the order that they are received.

There are numerous food options within driving distance with the closest cities to camp being Boyne City and Petoskey.
