U-M Role

I am the executive director of the Center for the Education of Women+ (CEW+), which was established in 1964 to support students returning to school after raising a family and part-time students on their paths. Now, we serve all students, with a specific focus on those with less traditional paths to higher education. We offer free education and career counseling to individuals in Michigan (virtually or in-person) and scholarships, fellowships, graduation grants, and emergency funds to active students at U-M Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses.

What Excites You About the Trip?

National Parks bring me great joy, even on the fifth or sixth visit! When my son was very young, we started collecting Junior Ranger Badges at National Parks as a family. We have collected over 30 badges; even as a 15-year-old, my son still enjoys the program. My interest in National Parks is seeing the hidden treasures, each with a unique character, landscape, and vibe. This trip will allow me to visit several parks I haven’t visited, which is exciting as … you guessed it, I will be working to get my Junior Ranger Badge at each of them! The Junior Ranger program is free and provides an excuse to learn about the uniqueness of each park.
