My research focuses on space physics, how the sun influences the upper atmosphere and outer space environment around Earth and other planets. This includes auroral physics, both the processes that create the fast particles that bombard our atmosphere as well as the influences this has on the upper atmosphere. I teach courses across the department, from climate change to advanced fluid dynamics, topical courses in space weather and general courses in data analysis and data-model comparisons, and others like space policy and our Ph.D. professional development seminar.
Seeing the northern lights, and getting to talk about this natural wonder with people.
