Michigan’s fall harvests are critical to the state’s agricultural industry, which contributes nearly $105 billion annually to the economy. This contribution would be entirely impossible without the labor of thousands of farm workers. Despite this fact, their working environment is less than ideal. A new community-based participatory research project led by researchers at U-M is exposing the dehumanizing, stressful, unsafe, and unhealthy workplace and living conditions experienced by farm workers in Michigan.
