The stress of the procedures, among many other factors, can lead patients into postoperative atrial fibrillation, commonly known as Afib. The condition has traditionally been viewed as benign and limited, but recent research suggests otherwise, suggests Steven F. Bolling, M.D., a cardiac surgeon at University of Michigan Health.
