Women are especially prone to Urinary Tract Infections or UTIs. Researchers at the University of Michigan Medical School are investigating how bacteria gain a foothold in otherwise healthy individuals, particularly how Escherichia coli, or E. coli—responsible for most UTIs—reproduces so quickly despite the near sterile environment of fresh urine.
