Dental opioids dispensed to U.S. patients of all ages declined 45% from 2016 to the end of 2022, according to a new study published by researchers from the U-M Medical School and School of Dentistry. Still, American dentists and oral surgeons are prescribing opioids at much higher rates than in other countries.
