In a study conducted by University of Michigan researchers, less than a third of children had a vision screening done by their primary care clinic in the last year. Olivia Killeen, M.D., M.S.,  discusses insurance disparities that play a role in such low numbers across the board for screenings, as well as other issues and how the number of screenings could be increased.
