The stigma surrounding functional, nonpileptic seizures is fatal, according to a new study from Michigan Medicine. The study highlights the serious nature of the diagnosis, one that has been historically treated as not of relevance and nonserious by healthcare professionals. The authors of the study hope that their work will increase awareness of the severity of the disease and, in turn, improve access to holistic care for this population.
