Children Who Suffer Cardiac Arrest More Likely to Survive at ECMO Capable Hospitals

Children who suffer from cardiac arrest have a one and half times better chance of surviving depending on the hospital they go to for care. Researchers found that hospitals equipped with ECMO equipment are better suited to care for these types of medical emergencies in children and teens. The same study also revealed that the boost in care may not even be due to the life-saving equipment’s availability.
