Firearm-related injuries are the leading cause of death among children and adolescents in the United States, and the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System has become a vital tool for risk assessment. A study conducted by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention reports that between 2019 and 2023, 51 percent of tips from the report system were classified as life-threatening, and the tips helped avert six confirmed planned school attacks.
