The United Nations International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia delivered its final report to the UN General Assembly this past October, a commission that Steven Ratner, professor of law and director of the University of Michigan Donia Human Rights Center, has worked on since 2022. In this edition of 5Qs, Ratner discusses his work investigating human rights violations in Ethiopia’s civil conflict and his recommendations for the UN’s humanitarian assistance efforts going forward.
