The Burley Scholarship Committee considers only undergraduate students enrolled full-time at the University of Michigan and residents of the State of Washington at the time of application for the scholarship. Undergraduate recipients whose residency changes to the State of Michigan may be considered at the discretion of the Committee.
The primary criteria for awarding scholarships will be academic achievement, financial need, diversity of student experience, community service, and demonstration of leadership. For admitted freshmen, the primary criteria will be led by financial need.
All awards are for one year only. Scholarships may be awarded to one student a maximum of four (4) times and are not renewable. The scholarship will only be available to full-time students for the fall and winter semesters.
Currently enrolled students may apply by submitting a completed application and official transcript to our Scholarship Chair, Michael Tarlowe, via email at [email protected]. The application window opens on May 1 and all materials are due no later than May 31. Applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee’s decision by the end of June.
Eligible admitted first-year students will receive an invitation to apply via email in March and applicants will be notified by the end of April.
