Current Scholarships of the U-M Club of Greater Flint

 

UM-Club of Greater Flint Murchie Science Building Fund – 337583

This fund supports programming expenses in the Murchie Science Building and M-Club Hub such as student research experiences, student clubs, K-12 outreach activities, tutoring, and other academic initiatives.

 

Athletic Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2002 with a five-year commitment of $100,000. That goal was achieved, and the club decided to continue annual contributions until the endowed market balance exceeded $250,000. These contributions were funded primarily from the proceeds of our Annual Golf and Sports Banquet and from additional gifts received by our alumni and friends.

This scholarship is awarded by the Athletic Departmaent to an athlete from the Greater Flint region.

Dominic Tomasi Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor former UM-Club president and outstanding Michigan football letterman, Dominic Tomasi. Mr. Tomasi was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and lettered all four years for the UM football team. He was captain and MVP of the 1948 undefeated national championship team, and played second base for four seasons on the Wolverine baseball team.

The award recipient must be a high school senior from the Greater Flint region who will attend either the UM Ann Arbor or UM-Flint campus. Promise Scholarship Program Book Scholarship

Established in March 2011, the Promise Scholar Program Book Fund will assist students enrolled in the Promises Scholar Program at UM-Flint in purchasing textbooks for their education.

The Promise Scholar Program is an alternative admission program for students who have academic potential but who would be unable to realize that potential without special support services due to their economic, cultural, or educational background. Services available to students admitted through the Promise Scholar Program help those students maximize their potential for success.

The M-Club provides up to $2,500 annually. Recipients will receive $250 per semester and are eligible for two awards during their academic year. Funding is for fall and winter semesters only and final selection is based primarily on financial need. Contact Financial Aid to apply at 810-762-3444 or financialaid@umflint.edu.

UM-Flint Student Research Fund

Established in March 2011, the UM – Flint Student Research Fund is intended to provide support for new and promising research endeavors, encourage individual or group scholarly and creative work, and recognize ambitious student research agendas. The Flint Alumnae Scholarship

This scholarship was established with a gift from the Flint Association of the University of Michigan Alumnae. This scholarship is intended to assist students returning to college after their education has been interrupted or delayed for 18 months. To apply, please visit https://www.umflint.edu/financialaid.

Academic Scholarship Fund

This scholarship, first named the Flint College Sesquicentennial Scholarship Fund, was established to provide scholarship assistance to students at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Applicants must be undergraduates, from Genesee, Shiawassee, or Lapeer counties, who have completed a minimum of 12 credits hours and have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average, and applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Scholarships will be awarded with a minimum amount of $500 and a maximum amount of $2,000 per recipient annually. The number and amount of each award varies yearly. To apply, please visit https://www.umflint.edu/financialaid.
