Scholarship awards have been presented to outstanding U-M students from the greater Houston area since 2014, the year our club Scholarship Program was established.
Below are our Award Recipients for the 2025-2026 academic year: Victoria Long, Precious Inyi, and Jennifer Torres.

Victoria Long, Energy Institute High School
2025 Mike Baker Memorial Scholarship Recipient
“Hello! My name is Victoria Long and I will be attending the College of Engineering, with the intent to dual major in Aerospace Engineering and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. I am extremely grateful to the U-M Club of Houston and honored to be this year’s Mike Baker Memorial Scholarship Award winner. I graduated as salutatorian from Energy Institute High School. I am looking forward to the large community offered at the University of Michigan, especially coming from a small school. I look forward to moving in and getting to know all my fellow Wolverines. Thank you very much to the U-M Club of Houston for this scholarship! Go Blue!”

Precious Inyi, Hightower High School
“Hello, my name is Precious Inyi, and I am honored to have been awarded this scholarship by the U-M Club of Houston! I graduated from Hightower High School, and I plan on pursuing a degree in Pharmaceutical Science on the Pre-Pharmacy track. I am super excited to explore Ann Arbor, create a network of friends and mentors within my classes and learning community, and experience the many school traditions that are essential to the true Wolverine spirit! In all of this, I’m eager to find ways in which I can make a positive impact on the lives of those around me, while also achieving new levels of personal growth. Thank you again to the U-M Club of Houston for this support and the immense kindness from every one of your officers and members. Go Blue!”

Jennifer Torres, Dr. Kirk Lewis Career & Technical High School
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity! At U-M’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, I am excited to deepen my understanding of how architecture can cultivate both environmental and social well-being. My interest in sustainable architecture is driven by the belief that design should not come at the cost of the planet. I want to challenge outdated harmful approaches to construction and advocate for buildings that work in unity with their surroundings. Go Blue!”
Congratulations and best wishes to Victoria, Precious, and Jennifer as they begin their academic careers at the University of Michigan! The names of all our Award Recipients are listed below.

Congratulations from the U-M Club of Houston to each of these deserving students!
