I have traveled to over 100 countries in various roles as an educator and researcher.
I am a nurse-midwife by clinical background and served as the Associate Dean for Global Affairs and Director of the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center in the School of Nursing for over a decade. My research focuses on the development and testing of innovative models of care to improve maternal and newborn health in areas of the world challenged by a lack of human resources, long distances to care, and cultural, gender, and socio-economic barriers. I have extensive experience working in sub-Saharan Africa.
