While we might enjoy a 60-degree day in December, it’s not exactly the best thing for the health and function of our planet’s ecosystems. Snow plays a critical role in regulating the flow of nutrients; to study it, researchers at the U-M Biological Station in northern Michigan have employed a high-tech snow-depth sensor to better understand the complexities of global environmental change.
