While the threat of COVID-19 globally has greatly diminished, people with compromised immune systems or who are over 65 are still at risk. An adjuvant is a substance added to some vaccines to trigger a stronger immune response, boosting their effectiveness and trying to overcome barriers while trying to balance safety. Pamela Wong, Ph.D., discusses the immune system and how the new nasal vaccine protects against the spread of the virus.
