For those who suffer a tear, the six-to-12-month grueling recovery process can be devastating. Researchers have found that women of all ages, that are active in sports, are more likely to suffer an ACL injury than their male counterparts. Michael Shingles, D.O., serves as the sports medicine medical director for Sparrow Health System, part of the University of Michigan Health, exclaims the multiple noted hypotheses in the disparities between men and women in sports suffering ACL injuries.
