There are 2,365.6 miles between Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Eugene, Oregon, where the University of Oregon, one of the newest members of the Big Ten conference, is located. The conference’s coast-to-coast expansion is exciting, but it raises significant sustainability concerns, particularly regarding the increased carbon emissions from team travel. The School for Environment and Sustainability is proposing strategies to help schools reduce their environmental impact as they navigate this new chapter in the conference’s history.
