Did you know the University of Michigan was the first university to establish an office dedicated to supporting gay and lesbian students? Following the 1969 Stonewall uprisings in New York City, the United States saw a rise in the gay liberation movement, and U-M was no different. Students organized to bring peer advising and resources to the LGBTQ+ community on campus.
