Promoted as a “plastic-back-to-plastic recycling game-changer”, chemical recycling is a hot topic in sustainability conversations. Given the go-ahead via a 2022 bill, the controversial technology has begun state-wide development. Critics highlight chemical recycling’s extremely energy-intensive nature and emittance of unregulated toxins.
