For the past 15 years, preventive health services, including screenings and tools for conditions like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, have been available at no cost to patients under the Affordable Care Act. However, a court case could potentially change this, as it challenges the legality of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s ability to recommend services for free coverage. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the plaintiffs, patients may have to pay for these services again, impacting millions of Americans.
