Mastering Your Job Search

Ready to take the next step in your career? Get expert support and strategies to navigate today’s competitive job market and stand out among thousands of applicants.

The job search has never been more challenging than it is today — things like automated tracking systems, online applications, and AI resume reviewers make it harder for job-seekers to stand out among thousands of other candidates. That’s why the Alumni Association created Mastering Your Job Search, a course exclusively for U-M alumni who have determined their career direction and are seeking support for the next phases of their job search.

This course is designed for every type of professional — new grads entering the job market for the first time or seasoned professionals looking for the next role to advance their career path. From career assessment and personal branding to narrowing the search, interviewing, and negotiating, participants will learn how to master each step of the process.

What makes this course an exclusive and unique experience for U-M alumni?

  • Asynchronous learning over five modules, covering the different phases of the job search process
  • Opportunities to connect with the global U-M network and other job-seeking alumni
  • Weekly office hours with the director of Alumni Career and Lifelong Learning

The five-week course is split into five modules, each offering in-depth guidance on a specific phase of the job search process:
