Memorial and Tribute Gifts
When gifts are made in honor or memory of someone, the Alumni Association attempts to notify the honoree’s family so they may acknowledge the gifts, when possible. You will also receive an acknowledgment, and the University of Michigan will send a receipt for tax purposes. When making gifts in honor or memory of someone, please include the contact information for the individual or family you are honoring. If you do not have this information, the Alumni Association will find the information and contact the appropriate relative.
Endowed and Expendable Gifts
Whether you wish to establish a named endowed or expendable fund, your support for the Alumni Association is invaluable. An endowed fund is a permanent funding source where the principal amount is invested and only the earnings are used annually to support the designated purpose, ensuring long-term, sustainable support. An expendable fund, on the other hand, is a gift designed for immediate use to address a pressing need or specific project.
If you’re interested in establishing a named fund at the Alumni Association, we encourage you to contact us [email protected] for more information.
