Alumni from all over returned to Ann Arbor for homecoming weekend Oct. 16-18.
Events around campus included the first-ever Alumni Day, the Alumni Territory Homecoming Tailgate, and a tour of the Big House.
Things kicked off on Friday, Oct. 16 with Alumni Day. On Ingalls Mall, the Alumni Association handed out breakfast items to students, staff, and alumni in the morning. Representatives from affiliate groups and Michigan Alumni Travel were on hand to talk to those in attendance, and Kroger was on hand offering flu vaccines. Members of the Association were able to pick up a free T-shirt. In the afternoon, the Alumni Association held an ice cream social in the same location, with self-guided tours of Burton Memorial Tower offered, and a tour of campus through the Association’s ALUM 101 program.
Also on Oct. 16, the first-ever Michigan Alumni Impact Awards were handed out. The winners were Dr. Sonia Eden, MD’00, MDRES’07, Dr. Andrew Hashikawa, ʼ00, and Kevin Nealer, ʼ75.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, the Association hosted the Alumni Territory Homecoming Tailgate that featured the Dance Team, Cheer Team, and Michigan Fanfare Band. The Association has been hosting homecoming tailgates for the last 50 years.
To wrap up the weekend, the Association offered tours of the Big House on Oct. 18.
