Along the way, discover opportunities to follow in their footsteps through upcoming Alumni Travel experiences and see the world through a distinctly Michigan lens.

Join Mike Shriberg, director of the U-M Water Center and professor of practice and engagement in the School of Environment and Sustainability, for a journey to the Great Lakes and beyond. Discover how U-M’s deep expertise in Great Lakes water policy, sustainability, and environmental leadership has positioned the university as a leader in the field, with lessons that extend to communities across the country and around the world.
Shriberg will share stories from his work and travels, particularly a recent trip to the Galápagos Islands and an upcoming Michigan Alumni Travel trip to Alaska.
About the Speaker

Mike Shriberg, Ph.D., is director of the University of Michigan Water Center and a professor of practice and engagement for the School for Environment & Sustainability (SEAS). His work focuses on Great Lakes water policy and institutions, local and state energy policy, and sustainability leadership.
Prior to coming to U-M, he served in multiple nonprofit leadership positions, including as the Great Lakes regional executive director at the National Wildlife Federation, policy director at the Ecology Center, and the director of Environment Michigan. He also previously served as the education director at U-M’s Graham Sustainability Institute.
Shriberg’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in biology and society from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in resource policy and behavior from U-M’s SEAS as an Erb Institute doctoral fellow, and a nonprofit leadership certificate from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
