In a recent study, University of Michigan researchers identified specific pools of molecules that may help prevent vision loss in retinal degenerative diseases. The retina has exceptionally high energy demands, particularly in regions critical for transmitting visual information to the brain. This research investigated how these cells utilize amino acids, such as glutamine, providing new insights into their potential role in retinal degeneration. Learn more about their findings here.
