New findings suggest that while inappropriate antibiotic prescriptions declined during the pandemic, that decrease was only temporary and 1 in 4 prescriptions went to patients who have conditions that the drugs won’t touch. Kao-Ping Chua, M.D., Ph.D., a pediatrician and health care researcher in the Department of Pediatrics at the U-M Medical School, highlights key findings from the study and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescription and use.
