WE TOOK THE “WORK” OUT OF NETWORKING FOR YOU.
While you’re working on your degree, it’s also time to start thinking about what your future holds after Michigan. The Alumni Association is here to help you through a variety of networking programs, workshops and events. Face to Face with Michigan Alumni connects you to alumni business leaders and entrepreneurs for career advice. We’ll guide you through the do’s and don’ts of networking at our Hail & Hello Workshop and Reception. And we’ll show you how to network and gain career advice and professional development via approximately 340,000 alumni on LinkedIn. Who you know is important, so get to know your Alumni Association.
Face to Face With Michigan Alumni
Need career advice? Have questions about the field you want to go into? Here’s your opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with Michigan alumni. In-person sessions are held in Ann Arbor at the Alumni Center (unless otherwise noted). You can register online to meet with alumni for 30 minutes. Registration for each session opens approximately two to four weeks before it’s scheduled to take place. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to register.
Feb. 2 – Co-sponsored with Literature, Science and the Arts
2017-18 Virtual Dates:
30 minute virtual sessions are also available and students can register online to meet with alumni volunteers from a variety of industries, cities and academic backgrounds. Once registered, students and recent grads will receive contact information so they can follow up directly with their selected alumnus/a via phone, Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangout. We ask you to reach out to alumni immediately to schedule a time to connect, and for connections to occur within one month of selection.
Hail & Hello Networking Workshop and Event
This exciting opportunity pairs a networking workshop with an event. First, we’ll walk you through the art of networking and demonstrate the skills you need to do it well. Then, you’ll practice in a comfortable reception environment with Michigan alums who want to help you succeed in using your networking skills.
Participate in a short education session before enjoying mocktails and appetizers at the Alumni Center while networking with Michigan Alumni. These events are free and open to all U-M students.
