The force was with Kasdan even when he was a U-M student, collecting Hopwood Awards for his early works. He went on to write and/or direct several popular movies, including “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and that award-winning classic about a group of U-M alumni, “The Big Chill.”
