Harvey Littleton, ’47

In 1977, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired two sculptures by Littleton, the first modern glass works in its collection. Glass pieces were made in factories or by small teams until Littleton—a pioneer in the medium whose students included Dale Chihuly—developed and taught techniques that made molten glass easy to work with in the studio.
