A chemical engineer, Gott co-founded Pacific Aero Products in 1916; the following year, it became The Boeing Company. Gott guided a team that developed the first biplane fighters. Through his efforts, Boeing obtained contracts with the military and established itself as a premier designer and manufacturer of many types of military aircraft.
