The recipient of India’s highest honors for architects, Correa blended traditions of his native country with 20th century Western modernism in designs for museums, hotels, education facilities, and affordable housing. An architect, urban planner, and activist, he used locally sourced materials and local labor to meet the needs of the urban poor.
