Alan Eisenberg, ’56

Labor lawyer who served as executive secretary (later re-titled executive director) of the Actors’ Equity Association from 1981 to 2006 — the longest tenure in the organization’s history. Eisenberg’s time at the union for live theatrical performers and stage managers saw major growth and a major impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics. Eisenberg served as a professor at U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where an award in his name was established in 2007 to recognize a graduating senior annually.
